Energy Savings Awareness

A brief description of the campaign:

We conducted education/awareness-raising campaigns encouraging the campus community to conserve energy. The campaign was launched by the Campus Sustainability Council, it included a save money and energy sign with 5 tips in offices and classrooms.


A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign:

Staff, faculty, and students became more engaged insuring window where operable and turning off unnecessary lights and equipment.

refashionNYC

A brief description of the campaign (2nd campaign):

refashionNYC is the city's official clothing reuse and recycle program. Campus Sustainability has partnered with the New York City Department of Sanitation & Housing Works to make clothing and textiles donations easy with a convenient in campus bin.


A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign (2nd campaign):

Since the program started on campus, the college has recycled more than 4,410 pounds of textiles.


A brief description of other sustainability-related outreach campaigns:

Biking on Campus: the college partnered with 511NY RideShare to provide a travel Portal, bike days commuting workshop , and a new bike repair and pump station.
Sustainability Conversations Through Stories Video Series: student produced and hosted series that examined sustainable initiatives available on campus.
Brooklyn College farm share: shares are available to campus and community members to promote fresh, healthy, and locally grown produce.
