BC Sustainability student club aspires to promote the ideals of sustainability through cross-department, interdisciplinary relationships on campus while building relationships with members of the surrounding community. New York Public Interest Research Group (NYPIRG) is New York's largest student-directed organization. Its principal areas of concern include environmental protection, transportation alternatives, and public health.

The Brooklyn College Garden is a verdant green space on the western edge of the campus where the college and neighboring community come together to learn about sustainable garden practices for urban environments, share gardening experiences, and promote a healthy and active lifestyle, all while fostering a sense of community.

Every Earth Month, campus sustainability partners will different organizations to bring Earth Day/Sustainability related programs and events. We also provide information for outside conferences, workshops and webinars.

Each year the Hess Scholar-in-Residence program invites a distinguished academic to the campus. The 2020 guest scholar studies, speaks about, writes on culturally based sustainable development strategies, renewable energy, and sustainable food systems. The Robert L. Hess Memorial Lecture was hosted in the Fall.

Campus Sustainability host Sustainability focused volunteer days throughout the academic year. In addition, we table weekly during common hours, serving as an information/resource hub for students on all things sustainability, from sustainable practices to information sharing on compost and plastic reduction.

The campus offers Sustainability stipends for unpaid sustainability focus internships off and/or on campus, through the Magner Career Center.

Magner Center Sustainability Careers Event is open to all majors but it focuses on students in the sustainability, environmental and other related sciences fields. Panelist and employers discuss internships and career opportunities.
