8.1 Food recovery program
Narrative and/or website URL providing an overview of the institution’s surplus food donation program:
Christopher Newport University has a student group called Food Fighters that collects and delivers surplus food from the two main dining halls to the Peninsula Rescue Mission and Faith Recovery food banks. The group operates on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays of each week to collect the hot leftover food that dining staff has packaged in foil trays for delivery after the dining halls have closed for the night.
