Christopher Newport University (CNU) offers repository hosting to make versions of journal articles, book chapters, and other peer-reviewed scholarly works by its employees freely available on the public internet. The Paul and Rosemary Trible Library provides guidance on open access publishing, facilitating the dissemination of scholarly work.
Additionally, CNU maintains SAIL (Smart Archiving for Institutional Learning), an online repository that allows users to access digitized resources from the university's archives.
Through these platforms, CNU supports open access to scholarly works, promoting the free exchange of knowledge and research to the public.

Christopher Newport University (CNU) does not provide a dedicated Open Access Article Processing Charge (APC) fund for its employees. However, CNU supports open access publishing through its participation in the Virtual Library of Virginia (VIVA) consortium. This collaboration offers APC discounts with various publishers, making it more affordable for authors to publish their work openly. Additionally, the Paul and Rosemary Trible Library offers guidance on open access publishing, assisting faculty and staff in navigating available options.
While there isn't a specific APC fund, CNU encourages its researchers to explore these resources and consider utilizing grant funds to cover publication costs when possible.
