A brief description of the campus climate assessment(s) :
Chatham conducts both end- and mid-semester surveys of all first year students to gain a sense of students’ perception of their experiences on campus. This survey has been conducted since 2011 and is overseen by the retention committee. The committee uses this longitudinal data to help inform new programs, but also as a rapid-response way to improve interactions and the environment on campus.

When students are applying to the university we ask them to provide us with cultural information. We document students' race, state or country of residence and gender.

A brief description of the employee diversity and employment equity assessment(s):
Chatham University's Human Resources department collects data on racial, ethnic, and gender diversity annually. Chatham has 11.3% ethnic diversity and 67% gender diversity (female employees) out of the institution's employment for the current academic year. In addition, 14% of management at the university is from a minority population. Diversity is assessed annually with the goal of at least maintaining current levels of diversity and improving as much as possible.

A brief description of the governance and public engagement assessment(s):
Diversity is part of our employee code of conduct and is in the employee manual which has to be signed by every hire of the university. The board of trustees' trusteeship committee assesses diversity in its slate of nominees, primarily racial, ethnic, and gender diversity. The board of trustees data from 2014 is 65% female, with 17% ethnic/racial minority representation overall.
