A brief description of how the student educators are selected (1st program):
Students are selected through an application and interview process, which requires them to respond to questions that solicit information about their understanding of the three dimensions of sustainability (economic, environmental, social), experience with educational programming, communication and group facilitation skills, diversity awareness, and ability to collaborate with a variety of campus constituencies. Once selected, students remain in the program for the duration of their time at the institution.

A brief description of the formal training that the student educators receive (1st program):
Students engage in apx. 20 training sessions (10 in the fall and 10 in the spring semester) for the first year of their involvement. These sessions are 1.5 hrs each and are led by university faculty, staff, and community representatives. The training covers the three dimensions of sustainability, current issues related to sustainability (green building, food insecurity/sustainability, etc.), as well as leadership identity and skill development.
