Course Inventory

One
A brief description of the methodology used to determine the total number of courses offered and to identify sustainability course offerings, including the definitions used and the process for reviewing and/or validating the course inventory :
Inventory of all Fall and Spring courses 2018-2019, broken out by section. We counted courses by section because certain sections are involved in annual sustainability events or taught by specific instructors. In order to classify courses as "sustainability focused" or "sustainability related", we considered:
course description
course competencies
sections that were involved in annual sustainability events (instructor specific - includes Sustainability Day in Spring and Unnatural Disaster Day in Fall)
courses listed under a Sustainability AC (academic certificate) program
When needed, we asked the instructors to provide more information on how their course incorporates sustainability topics, including their syllabus. This provided a much deeper view of the content than the course competencies provide.
The column called "sustainability qualifying evidence" provides the reasoning for classifying as "sustainability focused" or "sustainability related".
We excluded fitness center classes, private instruction, special topics, and classes offered at our senior center (not on our main campuses).
How were courses with multiple offerings or sections counted for the figures reported above?:
Each offering or section of a course was counted as an individual course
