A brief description of the activities and substantive accomplishments of the institution-wide coordinating body or officer during the previous three years:
Since the founding of the faculty/staff/student “Sustain Champlain” initiative in 2005, our team and coordination has evolved. Currently, the Director of Service & Sustainability Learning (Christina Erickson) runs the Center for Service & Sustainability, which is the central coordinating office for all efforts that fall under the Sustain Champlain initiative.

This campus-wide initiative strives to infuse sustainability concepts and practices throughout Champlain College by coordinating and promoting best practices within four areas: our institution, academics, operations and culture. Our staff serves as internal consultants, educators and resource people to the Champlain Community (within and beyond the College). We also collaborate with and support other departments and groups to provide campus programs that enrich the campus experience.

However, in the past few years, we’ve been very successful in integrating sustainability into other offices/departments, namely the Transportation Office, Operations & Auxiliary Services
