Central Washington University supports Central Transit, a fare-free public transit service provided by the City of Ellensburg. This allows all CWU students and employees free access to public transportation.

Each year, CWU participates in Bike to Work day and encourages students and employees to identify safe bike routes to campus.

Since November 2019, CWU has partnered with FlixBus to provide long-distance bus transportation for students traveling to and from Ellensburg. The service was offered as an alternative for students who did not want to bring a car to campus. As part of the partnership, CWU provides a bus stop on campus for FlixBus to pick up and drop off passengers.
