A brief description of how sustainability is included prominently in new student orientation :
For 2020 and 2021 new student orientation, sustainability tours and sessions were offered for incoming first-year and transfer students. As part of the 9 wellness dimensions (cultural, emotional, environmental, financial, occupational, physical, social, and spiritual), students had an opportunity to learn about sustainability initiatives on campus and how to get involved.
In 2020, a tour of the Wildcat Neighborhood farm was offered and 20 students attended.
In 2021, a sustainability session was offered 3x with 25 students in each session.
In 2022, we were without a Sustainability Coordinator so less programming occurred. The Provosts office funded two undergraduate students involved in CWU Sustainability Efforts to attend lunches at orientation to promote CWU Sustainability, including the new Sustainability Living Learning Community, the Sustainability Certificate, the IT Sustainability minor, the Environmental Club, and the Campus Farm.
