A brief description of how the figure above was determined:
We contacted the University Registrar to obtain a copy of all academic programs and departments at CWU. We scanned the provided Word document with sustainability-related keywords and also reviewed each program briefly. This initial list of possible sustainability programs was then transferred to an Excel document that allowed us to review each program based presence of the following: Economics, Equity, Environment, sustainability-focused, sustainability-related. We highlighted any questions.

We then presented our initiative to CWU's Academic Department Chairs Organization (ADCO). After presenting the initiative and sharing an overview of sustainability definitions, we provided the initial inventory and questions to the chairs. Each chair had the opportunity to review our draft inventory and make edits or additions for about one month. After that review period, we reviewed the changes and doublechecked our inventory results. From the initial list of departments and programs, we calculated the proportion of programs that met sustainability criteria.
