A brief description of the program:
Newark Campus has several programs that facilitate the reuse of materials:
Reuse of campus paper:
During the past fifteen plus years the Newark Campus Services Center (cost shared printing facility) has made scratch pads and forms, which are used on campus. The paper used is one-sided text that is out of date, incorrect or surplus copies. Paper with personal or confidential information or tests is not padded.
Paper that cannot not be padded is sealed in boxes, stored in a secure area and is picked up for shredding. The shredding facility used is LICCO, Inc. LICCO is a local sheltered workshop that employs adults with developmental disabilities. This process provides an economical service to the campus and employment for a local non-profit program.
During the 2011/2012 fiscal year 7,017 lbs. of paper were shred. The 2012/2013 fiscal year has, thru February, shred 12,268 lbs.
