School of Math, Science and Engineering: Dietary Manager
The Healthy Meals, Fit for Life project includes
these components:
• Develop a Dietary Manager curriculum and
certificate blending food science and nutrition
education with community needs, health, wellness
and service learning.
• Expand students’ experiential learning
opportunities at partner agencies.
• Attract underrepresented groups and produce
graduates capable of enhancing the state’s and
nation’s nutrition and health.
• Provide scholarship and stipend opportunities
and agency/community partners for the certificate
program.
• Partner with USDA Food and Nutrition

NMITAP apprentices may be first-time college students, current students, or unemployed workers seeking skills and development. NMITAP is also available to veterans looking for civilian careers or other workers whose prior learning and experience can be applied towards a program of study. Our recruitment efforts reach select workers targeted for occupational development. We can also locate apprentices from underrepresented groups.

CNM provides various support services for underrepresented populations, CNM currently has several programs specifically designed to support low income, minority, and first generation students. The programs are Trio, Trio provides academic and student support services to students who fall within these categories. Trio serves an average of 200 students a year. Student Support Services include, scholarship, academic advising, referral services for tutoring, financial aid, career exploration.
STEM-UP program currently serves current and prospective students in the STEM fields, the program provides an pathway for students to earn both an associate and bachelors degree in the sciences (UP-undergraduate pathway). The program provides academic support services in the area of academic advisement, career exploration, tours of 2 and 4 year institutions; academic support services which include tutoring both Supplemental Instruction, and individual and group tutoring, as well as charted STEM group study sessions. , http://www.cnm.edu/depts/stemup
