Which of the following best describes the institution’s approach to rainwater management?:
Comprehensive policies, plans or guidelines that require LID practices for all new projects

A brief description of the institution’s green infrastructure and LID practices:

CNM adheres to city and state regulations regarding how much water is allowed to leave a developed site (% of pre-development runoff rate), as well as strategies outlined in state mandated LEED requirements (LEED silver). These requirements have resulted on all newly landscaped areas to follow LID and Green Storm Water Infrastructure Practices as stated in CNM's Facilities standards and guidelines (published by Facilities Department) that are submitted to all contractors before a project begins. Additionally, CNM has a Storm Water Program in place (attached).

2017-2019 examples:
1) All newly renovated or newly constructed buildings landscape plants are first fed by directed storm water.
2) Detention basins are a part of many newly renovated or constructed buildings.
3) The large grass area has been removed to be xeriscaped and stormwater drainage has been preserved and follows city/state regulations regarding runoff flows.
4) UNM graduate student. Tess Houle, did a study/project for her UNM thesis on CNM's Main Campus for GSI and LID. Much of her recommendations have been incorporated into larger landscaping and site plans.

2016: There is also a collection area in front of MS, off of University Blvd, and between JS and SRC.

2014: A few examples: Sustainable strategies are employed in the site design of new buildings to direct run off to planted areas to promote nature water harvesting, while reducing irrigation requirements. Projects include Rio Rancho Campus Parking lot, Advanced Technology Center planting mediums, the Westside Campus Parking lot.
