A brief description of steps taken to reduce hazardous, special (e.g. coal ash), universal, and non-regulated chemical waste:
First, being a community college, we do not generate a lot of hazardous waste.
The waste that we generate are from chemistry labs, ceramic labs, and screen print labs.
CERAMIC LABS: Instead of shipping out the waste as we collect them from lab, we let the water evaporate from the mixture of clay and ship out solid with
less weight.
SCREEN PRINT LABS: The chemical is being used over and over in this process until it is no longer any good.

We have a hazardous waste vendor to take care of our hazardous waste disposal legally through the manifest system (from cradle to the grave).

Electronic waste is collected at least 1x/year. We also have a "Bring your own device" initiative that collects and processes donated electronics for students who need them.
