In 2006, the Governor of New Mexico signed Executive Order 2006-001 requiring all new higher education facilities meeting guidelines outline in the order to be designed to a minimum of LEED Silver, if 15,000 + square feet and RECEIVES state FUNDING. Additionally, "All other new construction, renovations, repairs and replacements of state buildings shall employ cost-effective, energy-efficient, green building practices to the maximum extent possible..." Our main policies are to adhere to the current LEED version and to meet at least Silver Certification or other green standards. Additionally, the guidelines linked above are for both LEED buildings (as minimum requirements established by the institution) as well as for non-mandatory LEED renovations (smaller areas).
