Name or title of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:
Energy Dashboards and Solar Planning
A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome that outlines how credit criteria are met and any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation:
The Executive Director of the Physical Plant Department has approved a request made by the CLL & Sustainability Project Manager to move forward with a campus-wide energy dashboards project that will incorporate all existing, and newly constructed/renovated buildings' electrical, gas and water meters into the dashboards (as both a way to make sure the buildings get sub-metered and to track energy/water metrics). Additionally, approved was a new "solar" line item to Capital Project budget requests that involve renovations or new construction, which will also be incorporated into the dashboards. This has not been a part of the budget request process in the past as buildings were not individually metered for electricity and budgets for building renovations or new construction are also normally requested before they have been designed, thus making it nearly impossible to get quotes for solar systems. Now, the buildings are individually metered and the CLL Sustainability Project Manager has found other mechanisms that will make it possible to add this line item to all project requests that involve buildings (dashboards). There is not yet a document for the latter (solar item) since it has not yet been incorporated into any project. But please see attachment for existing Dashboards contract and photo of existing dashboard page.
