CNM realizes the importance of recruiting, hiring, and retaining the best and brighest talent in higher education. From September 2012 through February 2014, CNM conducted several salary market analyses for over 700 positions resulting in salary increases for employees in addition to the annual wage adjustment alloted for higher education employees. During the economic crisis experienced over the last five years, CNM was been able to provide annual wage increases by streamline total FTE through a retirement incentive program offered and normal attrition of employees.

CNM utilizes benchmark salary data from local and national peer institutions, College University Professional Association-Human Resources, and the Rocky Mountain salary surveys depending on the market where we recruit talent for a particular position.
Furthermore, the 2013 federal poverty guideline, threshold or low-income cut-off for a family of four is $23,550 or $11.33 per hour. Five percent (5%) of CNMs job titles have an annual salary under $23,550. These positions are manual labor or entry skill level. Of CNM’s current total work force of 2201, only 103 (4.7%) fall within this category.
The sustainable (living wage) for the Albuquerque MSA is $8.60 per hour. The lowest paid staff member at CNM (other than a student employee) is a temporary clerical at $8.60 per hour. Of the 103 employees under the federal poverty level, their hourly pay ranges from $10.49 (122% above the Albuquerque MSA minimum wage) to $11.19 (130% above the Albuquerque MSA minimum wage).
