A brief description of the institution’s efforts to support alternative fuel and power technology in its motorized fleet:
Central New Mexico Community College’s Transportation Services Department tries to keep a fine balance between alternative fuel vehicles, their usage, and the cost of maintenance. Not only to be environmentally proactive but fiscally responsible as well. We strive to make the best alternative fuel purchases that we can. New Mexico State also requires government institutions to have a certain percentage of their yearly vehicle purchases to be alternative fuel vehicle as well. The problem that the College faces with alternative fuel vehicles is the availability of these alternative fuels in our local markets. As the local market ventures more into alternative fuels and the availability increases the College will be able to not only continue buying alternative fuel vehicles but use alternative fuels as well.
