A brief description of when and why the building energy consumption baseline was adopted:
The baseline was selected because that was the first year CNM collected data to begin their sustainability benchmarks.
None
A brief description of any building temperature standards employed by the institution:
CNM tries to maintain temperatures within the building at 68 degrees and have all building set at that point.
None
A brief description of any light emitting diode (LED) lighting employed by the institution:
---
None
A brief description of any occupancy and/or vacancy sensors employed by the institution:
All new facilities constructed do have occupancy sensors so approximately 800,000 square feet of the campus have sensors.
None
A brief description of any passive solar heating employed by the institution:
---
None
A brief description of any ground-source heat pumps employed by the institution:
Two facilities at the CNM campus utilize ground source heat pumps. They are the Rio Rancho Phase I building and Westside I
None
A brief description of any cogeneration technologies employed by the institution:
---
None
A brief description of any building recommissioning or retrofit program employed by the institution:
CNM has on call commissioning services to assist in retrocommissioning. CNM is pending the completion of the buidling managment system before retrocommisioning and has identified three buildings that will be retrocommisioned.
None
A brief description of any energy metering and management systems employed by the institution:
CNM has a number of Buildings tied to the Emergy managment system and work in progressing to tie the information to one central location. Funding has been budgeted to complete this work and it should be operational by 2014
None
A brief description of the institution's program to replace energy-consuming appliances, equipment and systems with high efficiency alternatives:
in 2009, the adminstration required all staff to remove all appliances on campus and facilities purchased new energy star rated appliances in all break rooms. All staff are required to use those break rooms to avoid staff and students from bringing used items on campus.
None
A brief description of any energy-efficient landscape design initiatives employed by the institution:
CNM has replaced a majority of landscaping with new drought tolerant native plants and worked on placing drip irrigation systems throughout to minimize water use. ALl exterior lighting on new buildings utilize LED lighting.
None
A brief description of any vending machine sensors, lightless machines, or LED-lit machines employed by the institution:
The contract with the vending machine provider requires that they use energy misers on their machines to minimize energy use.
None
A brief description of other energy conservation and efficiency initiatives employed by the institution:
The Information Technology Department has installed software to shut down computers each night that are left on. Buildings temperatures are set back during weekends and holidays and weekend classes are consolidated to certain buildings to minimize the need to heat and cool.
