A brief description of the institution’s sustainable food and beverage purchasing program:
CMU Dining works to buy from local vendors for several aspects of the dining experience. CMU Dining is partnered with "several locally owned, minority-owned, women-owned businesses right here in Michigan. Our vendors provide a variety of products that we use and sell every day, such as hummus and kombucha! Our on-campus partners are Ponder Coffee Co., Pizza King, Idli Dosa, and Ignite Donuts. By supporting and shopping locally, we are reducing our carbon footprint."

Central Michigan University has a nationally recognized environmentally friendly dining process. With only allowing students to use reusable or compostable materials, all of CMU Dining's waste is taken care of in an environmentally responsible manner. In addition, CMU Dining is always looking for ways tho expand their sustainability practices and promote awareness for how sustainability is connected to the food we eat.
