A brief description of the sustainability newsletter or social media platform:
Central Sustainability established a monthly sustainability newsletter starting September 2022. Central Sustainability also collaborated with CMU’s University Communications to develop official Central Sustainability Instagram and Facebook pages launching in September 2022. They have since reached more than 300 followers. The social media platforms and newsletter aim to educate the CMU and Mount Pleasant communities about upcoming sustainability events and offer relevant sustainability tips.

Buildings all across Central Michigan University promote the level of sustainability within their function, maintenance, construction and design, and LEED Certified buildings are acknowledged. There is also signage describing green cleaning techniques, non-smoking policies as well as recycling information and promotion. Central Sustainability creates posters and additional signage promoting sustainability events.

A brief description of the sustainability walking map or tour:
Central Sustainability hosts several sustainability walking tours each semester. They guide participants around campus to different sites highlighting campus sustainability. Sites include LEED certified buildings, campus museums, locations where dining hall compost is used and the Central Sustainability office among others.

Central Sustainability developed a sustainable living guide sent to students living in residence halls in fall 2022.

Central Sustainability partnered with CMU’s dining hall food service Chartwells for composting outreach and education. Chartwells representatives were excited to partner with Central Sustainability and promote the composting initiatives at CMU. Central Sustainability created videos and graphics to be used throughout the various dining halls on campus. The graphics include composting facts and statistics as well as information about Morgan Composting, CMU’s composting partner.
CMU’s Facilities Management also invests in jumbotron screen time at every CMU basketball and football game. Central Sustainability creates 30-second educational and promotional videos for this screen time.
