Part 1. Institutional sustainability learning outcomes
Which of the following best describes the sustainability learning outcomes?:
A list of the institution level sustainability learning outcomes:
Central Michigan University has general education requirements that all students must complete. To meet the requirements, students must complete a designated number of credit hours in the four University Program categories (humanities, natural sciences, social sciences, and culture & diversity) as well as competencies in English, math, and communications. The course options in the natural sciences category are all either focused on sustainability or are supportive of sustainability. Links to the university's general education requirements and to the natural sciences course options list are included in the notes section.
Part 2. Program-level sustainability learning outcomes
Number of graduates from degree programs that require an understanding of the concept of sustainability:
A brief description of how the figure above was determined:
This figure was determined by totaling all of the 2022-2023 school year graduates, including those who graduated December 2022, May 2023, and August 2023. Then it was determined how many of these graduates had gained a degree in one of the programs requiring understanding of sustainability (graduates in at least one of the programs below). Sustainability focused programs include those with at least one required course focused on environmental, social, cultural, and economic sustainability. The graduation data was provided by the Academic Planning & Analysis office. The link to collected graduation data are included in the notes section and the additional documentation section.
Only undergraduate programs were included in this data because the the data we were able to obtain referenced only undergraduates. Additionally, we used the most recent data available because we believe it is the best reflection of the university as it is currently.
