A brief description of the methodology used to complete the course inventory :

The course inventory provided was compiled by sorting through the 2021-2022 Central Michigan University Undergraduate Bulletin and the Graduate Studies Bulletin. Each course and its inclusion, focus, or lack of sustainability was considered individually and determined based on the course's relation to the United Nation's sustainable development goals. A description was provided for sustainability-inclusive and sustainability-focused courses, including their relationship to the UN's sustainable development goals. When more information was needed to determine a course's relationship to sustainability, the syllabus for the individual course was examined. In the inventory, there is a list of sustainable development goals and an X that appears under the specific goal that the sustainability-focused or inclusive courses relate to.

Special topics courses, internship and other field experiences, individually directed courses (including thesis courses, continuing registration courses, independent studies, etc.), study abroad, and performance-based courses were excluded from the course inventory.

How were courses with multiple offerings or sections counted for the figures reported above?:
Each course was counted as a single course regardless of the number of offerings or sections

A brief description of how courses with multiple offerings or sections were counted:

Each course was only counted once, even if there were multiple sections. The section that appears first in the inventory was the section counted. This way, no course was double-counted.
