The Campus Sustainability Advisory Committee:
Mission:
The mission of CSAC shall be to institute practices and create a culture of sustainability
at Central Michigan University to assure that the economic, environmental and social
concerns of the university community are managed in a sustainable manner to ensure
that we have the resources to meet the current needs of students, faculty and staff while assuring that future needs of the university and local community will also be met. In carrying out the mission, we will focus on the following areas to improve sustainability.

2. Water Conservation and Management
3. Green Purchasing Programs
4. Recycling and Waste Management
5. Sustainable Transportation
6. Reduction of Greenhouse Gas Emissions
7. Green Building and Remodeling

9. Develop a Culture of Sustainability at CMU
10.Build a Sustainable Community and Society

The Campus Sustainability Advisory Committee is the outlet in which all committee members engage in institution-wide coordination takes place. Additionally, less formal committee meetings have birthed initiatives like Recycling is Elementary, thanks to the collaborative efforts of the committee members. Please see attached document for specific details on the aforementioned initiative. ***Note, the attached grant was recently approved by the MI DEQ***
