A brief description of any internal sustainability professional development and training opportunities that the institution makes available to non-academic staff:

Central Michigan offers internal custodial training throughout the year to all custodial staff on green cleaning products, techniques and priorities.

Additionally, Saphire Cureg offers trainings on cultural sensitivity, multicultural dynamics and other social equity-related training to all faculty, staff and students, with a reported attendance of most staff registering for said training, each year.

The HR department promotes several trainings in areas of leadership and diversity that is required for staff. Twice per year, the academic and professional programs staff are taken to a remote campus location and provide specific training in areas of leadership, emotional and cultural intelligence. All of the trainings are tracked and reviewed as part of the performance review which is conducted at least four times per year for each employee.


A brief description of any external professional development and training opportunities in sustainability that are supported by the institution :

Central Michigan offers custodial training from contracted vendors throughout the year to all custodial staff on green cleaning products, techniques and priorities. In addition, opportunities which promote sustainability are encouraged. Otherwise, sustainability training is conducted on an individual, and department by department basis, often varying slightly based on an employees unit.

All staff are assessed annually based on sustainability oriented categories defined by the Department of Institutional Diversity. These are outlined in the attached file entitled "Performance Review Template."
