Does the institution host a food bank, pantry, or equivalent resource focused on alleviating food insecurity, hunger and poverty among students?:
Yes
A brief description of the food bank, pantry, or equivalent resource:
The Hastings, Grand Island, and Columbus Campus Food and Hygiene Pantry provides support for all Central Community College students. Our hope is to offer a variety of products to our students in a time of need, including canned food, boxed meals, breakfast and hygiene items. Information on other community resources is available through the pantry. We also take unused food items from our culinary department onsite restaurant to support the food pantry as well.
The Grand Island Campus Food and Hygiene Pantry is a multi-club project that provides support for CCC-Grand Island students and their families. Our hope is to offer a variety of products to our students in a time of need, including canned food, boxed meals, breakfast and hygiene items. We have also received some coats, gloves and hats to help students and their children to stay warm in the winter. We can set up a time to check on clothing items.
All submissions for assistance will be sent to Nick Freelend and remain confidential. Items can be pre-packaged for you to pick up or you can browse the pantry and select items you need.
