Name or title of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:
Sustainability Leadership Presentation Series (SLPS)
A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome that outlines how credit criteria are met and any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation:
The Sustainability Leadership Presentation Series (SLPS) is a collaborative live broadcast of highly qualified and credible speakers, presenting on regional topics of sustainability and global and local environmental issues. The SLPS stimulates needed discussion and provides examples for action, planning and problem-solving for leadership in environmental sustainability. Partners of the SLPS include 4 Nebraska colleges and universities and 2 Nebraska non-profit organizations, with another college expected to partner this next year. There are 6 SLPS installments each year: 3 during the fall and 3 during the spring. Presentations cover a variety of topics related to sustainability such as buildings, energy, manufacturing, social sciences, humanities, and transportation. The SLPS is hosted through WebEx to reduce the amount of travel needed; viewers can watch from anywhere and presenters can present from anywhere. There have been presenters from as far as England and viewers from as far as Florida. The presentations are free and available to the public and are especially critical in a state such as Nebraska that is not as invested in sustainability as other states.
