A brief description of the institution’s efforts to support alternative fuel and power technology in its motorized fleet:

Since 2023, Catawba College has added an electric Ford Mustang Mach-E and three electric golf carts for staff members in the Public Safety Office. These vehicles were prioritized in the switch to all-electric vehicles because the Public Safety Office often conducts safety checks and monitoring of campus, which requires driving around campus and often idling. The College has also electrified with athletics training equipment, a housekeeping cart, and one Ford E-transit van.

The College's Fred Stanback, Jr. Ecological Preserve Keeper operates two electric vehicles to assist in operations and maintenance in and around the Preserve.

Several departments and offices at the College operate electric carts or vehicles, including Athletics, Information Technology, and Facilities.

The College has begun the process of electrifying the campus fleet, starting with areas in need of replacement vehicles.
