Spring 2024 Geothermal Project
A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome that outlines how credit criteria are met and any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation:
In Spring 2024, the College is installing a closed-loop geothermal system to provide clean energy to heat and cool the Library.
The project, which will be complete in March 2024, will feature 38 wells and high-efficiency geothermal heat pumps.
The estimated effects of this geothermal project include:
- 265 MMBtu reduction in fossil gas used
- 145,724 kWh reduction in purchased electrical energy
- 51 metric ton reduction in carbon emissions.
