The Center for the Environment presented to campus employees on sustainable habits and practices in everyday work in Fall 2023 at the pre-term conference. The College is hosted a Sustainability Town Hall in April 2023 to provide the Catawba community with the opportunity to learn more about sustainability on a macro-level for the College.
Opportunities have been made available for staff in the Center for the Environment to become beekeeper certified.
The Center is developing other internal training and professional development opportunities for all employees of the College.

A brief description of any external professional development and training opportunities in sustainability that are supported by the institution :
Catawba College was an official Host Institution of the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education’s (AASHE’s) annual Global Conference on Sustainability in Higher Education (GCSHE) in 2022. As a host institution, all students, staff and faculty had full access to the conference. This information was broadcast through internal College communications networks for faculty and staff members.
In fall of 2023, the College hosted a training from Campus Pride on supporting members of the LGBTQ+ community on our campus and learning about how to cultivate safe spaces.
Catawba staff have also been able to participate in various sustainability-focused professional development workshops. Recently, the College financially supported staff attending AASHE's "A Deep Dive into STARS Data Quality" workshop.
