A brief description of the institution’s sustainability projects fund:
The College has maintained a green revolving fund since 2012, implementing socially, environmentally, and fiscally responsible projects around campus with the fund. One such successful project partnered Campus Dining Operations with Gallins Family Farm, which receives pre- and post-consumption compost from the dining hall. Another project was the implementation of Catawba College's Bike Share Program using savings from a water use reduction project.
A brief description of the multi-stakeholder decision-making process used to determine which projects receive funding through the sustainability projects fund:
Projects are selected nominated by students and are evaluated based upon a calculated payback period and projected emissions or waste reduction potential. The decision on which projects are funded is verified by the Director of the Center for the Environment together with the Dean of Students.
