A brief description of how sustainability is included in new employee orientation:

The College does not have a formal employee orientation program, but it includes sustainability information in orientation outreach materials provided to new employees. Additionally, Center for the Environment personnel speak about sustainability at the all-employee gathering at the beginning of the academic year where new employees are introduced and all employees receive training. In the Fall of 2023, the Center for the Environment will present on sustainable habits for everyday work at the College.

All new employees of the College are greeted with a welcoming letter from the Center for the Environment's Executive Director. The letter contains a summary of the College's commitment to the environment and shares sustainability best practices for employees. The letter describes how the commitment to sustainability contains multiple dimensions, including an appreciation for employee well-being, and contributing to quality education for all students at the College.

In addition to the letter, all employees will receive a branded, reusable Catawba College water bottle. The reusable bottle is part of an ongoing outreach campaign by the College to reduce single-use plastics on campus.
