A brief description of the diversity and equity committee, office and/or officer, including purview and activities:

We have a very active Committee known as the Equity and Inclusion Council. The purpose of the E&I Team is to move Equity and Inclusion Plan (E&I Plan) work forward, uphold and model the values of equity and inclusion, continuously deepen personal analysis of issues and concepts pertaining to racial justice and equity, and discuss supports and solutions as issues and concerns arise.
It shall
• provide insight and recommendations as to campus climate, critical incident response, and human resources;
• be a source of guidance and feedback to the The Center for Culture, Community, and Inclusion;
• collect all known programming related to Pluralism and maintain the website with such information, providing feedback and assistance to programmatic bodies as necessary;
• review its function and charter yearly so that it acts as a body whose activity is purposeful to campus success in this area.

Cascadia has a commitment to Equity and Inclusion, and has created forums and professional development for DEI activities and trainings. These include sessions at quarterly Days of Inquiry and Assembly, (DIAs) listening tours from the president, Friday weekly Letters from leadership, and training events, sessions, and engagement activities for employees to become culturally aware.
