A brief description of any internal sustainability professional development and training opportunities that the institution makes available to non-academic staff:

Formal waste sorting and sustainability (Zero Waste Ambassadors Program) was created for staff: Faculty council, Classified assembly, and exempt staff assembly - training on waste sorting, zero waste options, reduction of waste, and methods to live more sustainably for food and waste products.

Informal: Gardening workshop - summer professional development events for all staff and faculty to learn about growing home gardens, and food plants, hosted in the campus farm.


A brief description of any external professional development and training opportunities in sustainability that are supported by the institution :

All staff have access to professional development funding which they can use to meet their annual performance goals. Recent examples of sustainability related professional development has included participation in conferences such as Washington Oregon Higher Education Sustainability Conference, Department of Ecology Low Impact Development training, permaculture certification and the on campus Earth Week educational events.
