Inventory of the institution’s sustainability research:

A description of Cascadia's research and applied projects in sustainability can be found here: http://www.cascadia.edu/discover/about/sustainability/sustainabilityresearch.aspx

We only have 3 staff and faculty doing research, because that's the true number of people doing research. Cascadia College is primarily an education focused community college - research isn't in consideration for faculty tenure or expectations. All research is done on a grant based and volunteer time basis, to support sustainability education at our campus.

A brief description of the methodology the institution followed to complete the research inventory:

This information is provided by Stephan Classen, Assistant Director of Sustainable Practices, who works directly with other faculty completing research related to sustainability.

As there is only one department on campus doing research, as it is only one of two bachelor's programs (Our Colleges' enrollment is only around 3000 students, with less than 50 students pursuing bachelor's degrees, research is extremely limited at Cascadia - and currently limited to the Sustainable Practices department.

Data source(s) and notes about the submission:

Our Sustainability Department is the only one on campus doing research currently. We are primarily a 2 year associate degree focused community college, with only 2 bachelor's programs, with less than 50 students in those bachelor's programs. We have 3 staff/faculty doing research actively on campus from 2018-2020, and all of it is focused on sustainability, and creating opportunities for students to learn and gain research experience.
