Currently we have an active Student Sustainability Club that meets weekly to plan and implement sustainability events on campus throughout the year

Besides a community garden club that is currently being designed and implemented, there is also a food forest in the center of campus, which students are encouraged to partake of and to become involved in the planting and maintenance of the crops. There are also raised garden beds which are open for student use, whether for personal or educational purposes. Excess produce from the campus garden beds is harvested and made available to those in need on a weekly basis when the garden is growing.

We have two significant sustainability events on campus each year: 1) the Campus Climate Dialog with is a one day student led symposium where students, faculty and staff gather to discuss steps we can take to lower our greenhouse gas emissions; and 2) Earth Week which is a joint campus initiative that includes multiple events such as wetland tours, planting in the Food Forest, make your own green cleaner, speakers, films and much more throughout the week.

Mobius Hall offers gallery space available to students, faculty and staff. This spring, during Earth Week, we'll be offering a showing of native pollinator photography that will be open to everyone on campus and the general public. Also during Earth Week, we'll be hosting a showing of photographs of the wetlands on campus over time (from a farm to a regionally known restoration project). In addition, on of our current BASSP students is creating art installations for display on campus that will help students to better develop a sense of place and an appreciation for the local people, plants and animals.

The BASSP orientation includes an outdoor experience. The first year of the program we rafted the Yakima River. The past two years we have kayaked on the Duwamish River. This is an opportunity for us to build connection between the students and for them to learn about sustainability field and tourism best practices.
