Staff and Faculty: Healthy Workplace
Healthy Workplace encourages Carleton University faculty and staff to champion positive physical and mental health, build meaningful social connections, foster personal and collective resilience, explore opportunities for personal growth, and enjoy work-life balance. Lunchtime workshops and activities, monthly challenges, and many other programs and resources allow members of the Carleton community to get involved in our Healthy Workplace culture.

A healthy workplace is about a cultural shift to a workplace were employees feel recognized for the work they do and are encouraged to maintain a healthy lifestyle. The healthy workplace initiative is working to help you enjoy a better balance between your responsibilities at home and work by offering you the opportunity to get involved in healthy activities that will benefit your physical and mental health.

At Carleton University, we take a holistic approach to supporting mental health in the workplace. As part of Carleton University’s commitment to fostering mental wellness across campus, we have adopted the National Standard for Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace. In addition, Healthy Workplace has developed the Supporting a Colleague: A Step-by-Step Guide to provide information to faculty and staff should they encounter colleagues in distress and in need of help. We have also launched the “Mental Health Speaker Series” consisting of a variety of topics presented virtually by Carleton faculty members. Healthy Workplace is also an Associate Member of MeWeRTH, Carleton’s Mental Health and Well-being Research and Training Hub. All of this work is linked to and supported by the Healthy Workplace Strategic Plan.
