Has the institution banned or eliminated the on-site sales and distribution of at least one type of single-use disposable plastic?:
Yes

A brief description of the single-use disposable plastics that have been banned or eliminated:

Carleton has been working with our Dining Services partner, Aramark (and outlets) to ban/eliminate and/or reduce a number of single use plastic waste items. The first phase of this program was to conduct a full review of all packaging items within our dining food hall operations and look to switch to a fully compostable or recyclable product. In addition, Carleton also worked with our waste partner, Tomlinsons, to review packaging and confirm if compostable items (as designated by manufacturer) can be composted through local MRF facilities.

In addition to the review of packaging waste, Carleton has also banned the use of all single use plastic straws on campus, removed examples of plastic bags from our Subway cafes and improved discounts on reuse coffee cups to incentify use by students.
