A brief description of the incentive program(s):

Carleton University has created two grant and incentive programs which aim to engage and increase student learning including sustainability. The programs specifically are intended to
support all research and course creation which aligns to the Carleton Strategic Integrated Plan and the core key directions, one of which is Striving for Sustainability. In addition, both of these programs are specific to learning of sustainability where the learning outcomes of the course align to that incentive.


A brief description of the incentives that academic staff who participate in the program(s) receive:

Experimental Learning Fund
The Fund has been established to provide one-time funds to encourage new or expanded experiential learning opportunities. Eligible expenses could include hiring teaching or research assistants, student travel costs for off-campus activities, event costs, technology to support the project, professional development, support and honoraria for community/industry partners.

Teaching Innovation Grant
Implementation of a new teaching strategy in a specific course designed to improve student learning
Development of teaching and learning resources that will enhance a specific course or several courses
Payments for Research Assistant(s)
Development of new experiential learning opportunities for students
Re-design of assessment strategies in an existing courses
Organizing a teaching and learning event at departmental level
