A brief description of the employee educators program (1st program):
It is expected that all custodians are aware of the waste streams (landfill, recycling, composting, and specialized materials). One representative of each custodial team serves on a volunteer "WasteBusters" committee. The Sustainability Program Coordinator and student sustainability staff provide in-depth waste training for the WasteBusters group to be experts in waste on campus. They educate other custodians and occupants of their buildings about the triple bin waste system at Carleton. They have an email account wastebusters@carleton.edu that is posted on all waste signage for anyone to ask questions about the waste stream.
