A brief description of the methodology used to track and calculate the number of recordable incidents of work-related injury or ill health :
CapU has developed incident and injury reporting procedures that allow us to collect, maintain and report statistics to management and the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee. Injuries are reported internally by email and to WorkSafeBC using the online reporting functions. Injuries are typically first reported to a First Aid Attendant and/or Campus Security and information is forwarded to the Safety and Emergency Services Department for review, investigation and follow-up. Injury management is co-managed by the safety department and Human Resources who track injuries by department and work group (Admin/exempt, faculty, MoveUp). Cap U tracks information including injury type and outcome, mechanism, immediate cause, department, location, lost time days and root cause.
