A brief description of notable policies or programs to make the institution accessible and affordable to low-income students:
CapU offers a comprehensive range of scholarships, bursaries, awards and grants to offset the cost of educational and living expenses to students. These include, but are not limited to entrance awards, scholarships, bursaries and award opportunities every term and emergency assistance funding for students experiencing unforeseen circumstances. Students are provided with employment support through the Career Development Centre and have access to co-op programs and paid practicum opportunities. Several initiatives to address food insecurity are available at not cost to the student such as a weekly fresh food market, community cupboard, meal vouchers, and funding for groceries. CapU also facilitates the administration and distribution of funds for most Canadian federal and provincial loan and grant programs as well as US private student loans, provincial tuition waivers, Indigenous sponsorships, interest-free loans, etc. Students may access a combination of financial resources mentioned every term they are registered.
