CAPU ENACTUS

A brief description of the student educators program (1st program):
Enactus is a global non-profit organization with teams in over 1,730 universities in 37 countries with over 72,000 members. Enactus teams work to identify challenges in their communities and develop innovative solutions that are in line with the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals. These student-led teams then run their projects in their community with the goal of bettering the lives of as many individuals as possible.

 

Enactus Capilano was founded in 2016 and is now a team of 30. Since inception, the team have developed and implemented 3 projects over 4 years. This includes Counting on Action, teaching 180 students the importance of entrepreneurial and sustainable business practices in the team’s first year. The team have also increased the financial literacy of nearly 500 students by 65% just last year and are actively working to improve more lives through developing new projects, beginning at home at Capilano University.

 

Additionally the team have created an additional Sustinability Project diverting 1,619lbs of food waste and connecting to 300 students over 4 events.

A brief description of the student educators program’s target audience (1st program):

The ENACTUS audience includes both students within Capilano University and students within the local community. The nature of outreach and education to each group of students relates to the type of project being delivered. The Square One project aimed to increase financial litteracy to students within the local community whereas the U-Belong and Sustainability Project initiatives are more directly aimed at Students from CAPU.
