Yes

Narrative and/or website URL outlining the ad hoc mechanisms used during the previous three years to consult local community members on institutional decisions, plans, or policies:

The Village Collective Impact Project at Canadore College has been a cornerstone of the institution’s commitment to engaging local community members in institutional decisions, plans, and policies over the past three years. This initiative exemplifies the college’s dedication to fostering inclusive and collaborative decision-making processes that reflect the needs and priorities of the community.

A key feature of The Village is the involvement of the SAGE Team (Seniors Advisory Group Engagement), which plays a vital role in consulting on all campus changes and providing regular feedback on the experiences of older adults both on campus and within the broader community. This group not only collaborates with the college but also actively engages with community partners to ensure that decisions are informed by diverse and intergenerational perspectives.

The Village’s engagement and communication strategy includes SAGE Team monthly meetings, seasonal gatherings of a Coalition of organizations, seasonal surveys, talking circles, and a monthly newsletter. These mechanisms ensure ongoing dialogue and feedback loops with seniors and community partners. By integrating these consultations into its operations, the college has successfully co-developed solutions for issues like health services, food security, and housing, creating impactful outcomes that benefit both the campus and the surrounding community.

This multifaceted approach underscores Canadore College’s commitment to sustainable development and community well-being, demonstrating how thoughtful and inclusive consultation can guide institutional priorities in meaningful ways.
