Canadore College manages 460 acres of certified forest at its College Drive Campus through a 10-year plan focused on sustainability and carbon neutrality. The forest holds both Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) certifications, making Canadore the first Canadian college to achieve this dual distinction. The project includes forest inventory, carbon sequestration measurement, and educational engagement, aligning with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
Biodiversity is also mapped and tracked by staff, students, and community members using iNaturlist through the Campus Biodiversity Network. See our observations here
