At Canadore College, sustainability information is deeply integrated into new student orientation through various initiatives. Each year, emails are sent to both new and existing students, introducing or reminding them of sustainability-related initiatives and resources. During orientation, the sustainability team engages students by presenting resources and testing their knowledge in virtual and in-person sessions. They also work with student leadership (iCanLead) to host workshops and demonstrations across campuses.
At orientation fairs, the sustainability team maintains a booth, providing students with direct access to essential sustainability information. Additionally, the sustainability team and iCanLead students actively participate in open houses, parent information nights.
Students are also given a digital "Sustainable Student Guide,". This guide offerspractical examples of how students can adopt more sustainable practices both at school and home, ensuring that sustainability is an integral part of their educational journey. It also equips them to practice sustainable habits within the community.
