Description of the process used to identify the institution’s sustainability research:

To identify the institution's sustainability research, we utilize the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) framework to categorize our applied research opportunities within our Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). This approach simplifies reporting and ensures alignment with global standards. Additionally, discussions of research interests among faculty, industry partners, and other stakeholders are integral to identifying and advancing sustainability research, fostering a collaborative and focused effort across the institution.

This process and assessment was completed by the Research Centre at Canadore College. Our Director of Research has confirmed that sustainability-focused or sustainability-supportive research is actively being conducted across all academic units. While these projects may not be attributed to specific departments, they are inherently multidisciplinary, spanning multiple schools and fostering collaboration across diverse fields.

The sustainability research incentives for academic staff include the provision of release time funded through the Research centre's departmental budget. This allows faculty to dedicate more time to sustainability-focused projects. Additionally, academic staff and students have access to grant funding that supports collaborative research initiatives aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), encouraging innovative and impactful contributions to sustainability.

Yes

Description of the sustainability research incentives for students:

The stated intent of the incentives program is to foster impactful sustainability research by providing students with valuable hands-on experience.
