A brief description of the mechanisms through which students have an avenue to participate in one or more governance bodies:
The Board of Governors, which administers the college on behalf of the government of BC and the Ministry of Advanced Education (as legislated by the College and Institute Act) is composed of 14 members, two of which are students. The two students are elected to the Board of Governors by other students.
The Education Council is a legislated body established under the College and Institute Act and provides leadership and decision making for the College in areas of academic policies and procedures. The coucil is composed of staff, faculty and students. There are 4 student positions and students are elected to the Education Council by other students.
The Environmental Sustainability Council provides an open forum for the discussion of college-wide environmental initiatives with a goal of improving and extending current environmental practices. Membership is comprised of administrators, faculty, support staff and students who have expressed an interest in participation. There is also one spot set aside for the student who holds the position of Sustainability Director in the Camosun College Student Society.

There are 10 positions for faculty on the Education Council. Faculty are elected to the council by other faculty members. The elected representation is distributed as follows: by Union/ Association: CCFA (8 seats maximum), and BCGEU (2 seats maximum), by School/ Division (including Access, Arts & Science, Business, health & Human Services, Trades and Technology, Business Development/ Centre for Sport & Exercise Education, and Cooperative Education/ Student Services). Faculty who are interested in joining the Environmental Sustainability Council are welcome to join, the council may also canvass specific faculty members based on where there is a need for leads based on the sustainability plan.
