The buildings heating systems all run off of a Weekly and Annual Schedule. When the building are occupied - anywhere between 7:00am and Midnight - they are given a room temperature average set-point of around 22 degrees C. When the buildings are unoccupied - night-time or holidays - the room temperature average set-point is around 18 degrees C.

Lansdowne Campus: Fisher 100 Lecture Room - all LED. Fisher Outside Pathway - all LED. Cultural Center - all LED. LRC - some LED Dunlop - recent LED upgrade to part of building. Miscellaneous - pot light with dimming compact florescent bulbs are replaced with LED when they burn out. Interurban Campus: Miscellaneous - pot light with dimming capable compact florescent bulbs are replaced with LED when they burn out. Note: Most new lighting projects use LED lighting where applicable.

Camosun just completed a B.C. Hydro Continuous Optimization Program at the Interurban Campus. This was a Building Automation System and HVAC hardware and software/programming upgrade to Campus Center, Technology building, CBA, Drysdale, and the Jack White building. - replaced all of the old DDC room controllers in CBA and Campus Center - replaced all non-functioning DDC related devices in all 5 buildings - re-wrote most of the DDC programming in all 5 buildings to reduce equipment run-times and optimize comfort and efficiency.

Interurban Campus: All buildings have Power Metering Equipment that are interfaced to the DDC system. The 5 main buildings are part of an energy report that is submitted monthly to the Facility Management Director and Associate Director. Lansdowne Campus: All buildings have Power Metering Equipment that are interfaced to the DDC system.

When aging or malfunctioning equipment is due for replacement it is generally replaced by a higher efficiency product. Some examples are : - old Boilers replaced by high efficiency Condensate Boilers. - as stated old lighting is replace with LED or higher efficiency fluorescent lighting - original T-12 fixtures replaced with T-8 or T-5 fixtures etc. - heating and cooling pumps that would needlessly run at full capacity have had Speed Drives added to their control to vary their output based on demand. - air handling units have had Speed Drives added to their control as well. - there are areas that have had Heat Exchangers added to recover and reintroduce heat from exhaust systems back into the buildings.

- Facility management building has a solar array that feeds power back to the grid and charges battery powered tools and golf carts used by the ground keepers. - Drysdale building has a Solar Wall that takes the solar heated water and introduces it into the building hot water system. - Helmut Hubert has a Heat Exchanger that pulls otherwise wasted heat off of the freezer cooling compressors and introduces it to the building hot water system.
